I am a professional actor with over 40 years experience. What I love most about my work is the variety. Early highlights, based in London include, Haymarket, Duke of York’s and a tour of Europe – ‘School for Scandal’. RSC – ‘Macbeth’, ‘Tempest’ and ‘Constant Couple’. Duddendance, dance theatre company touring Brazil.
Moving back to Cornwall in 1992 took my career in a whole new direction. I began to work on a series of projects with Kneehigh Theatre, a company rooted in Cornwall, it’s landscape and culture. I began developing a range of different theatre skills including devising, using live music, soundscapes, improvisation, mask and a much more physical approach.
This led to a long term collaboration with the Artist and Theatre Director Bill Mitchell who went on to create Wild works in 2005. This marked the beginning of a new journey into Site Specific Theatre performing in dramatic landscapes and atmospheric buildings across various locations. With the input and collaboration of local communities, choirs and musicians, we told stories in Cornwall, Devon, Glasgow, Malta, Cyprus and France developing projects in derelict tin mines, forests, naval docks, stately homes, palaces, cliffs and castles.
I also work with many other local Companies e.g. Miracle, Trifle Gathering, Az2B, and the Minack Theatre Company. This variety gives me a good balance between devised and text-based projects.
I also have experience in film, TV and recorded media. Cornwall’s vibrant film industry has, and continues to provide opportunities with a variety of Directors.
I also direct, teach and facilitate workshops with various communities, educational organizations and productions. I am an associate lecturer at Falmouth University, passionate about sharing a love for theatre, film and story telling.
